Mike Perry is a drummer and percussionist, composer and producer based in London, UK. In 2008 he graduated from Liverpool University, before studying at Drumtech drum and percussion school, London, graduating with a Masters Performance in Drums and a Trinity Guildhall Pro-Music Licentiate in 2011.
Mike has performed and toured with a variety of musicians in different fields including North African Gnawa fusion, Afro-beat, jazz-rock, modern jazz, flamenco, math-rock, latin jazz and Greek neo-classical, with a strong emphasis on experimentation, improvisation and stylistic crossovers between musical idioms. The work features a broad range of musicians and collaborators from diverse musical traditions, drawing influences from Instrumental/ experimental rock, IDM, Math-rock, reggae, dub, psychedelic rock, neo-soul, modern jazz, Japanese post punk, and more.
The first single “Lapse” from the “album Anthropocene” is due for release on Saturday 1st November along with the music video for “Lapse”, on Fu Inle Records. Accompanying preview material from the album will also be available, and the “Lapse” teaser music video is available here.
